James Joyce’s book of short stories called Dubliners was published in 1914. Is is regarded as one of the greatest books of all time, a classic. It recounts several events from his childhood to local persoanlities in the city, brilliantly depicting life in Dublin at the time. The greatness of the writing also lies in the everyman approach to his subjects inviting you into their home, their lives, loves and losses. The final story called “The Dead” is viewed as the greatest short story ever written. The American director John Heuston made a movie out of this story starring his daughter Angelica Heuston and the Irish actor Donal McCann. Is was filmed in a Georgian house on the quays in Dublin.
